Let's assume the worst: You are up against a specially trained sniper. He is working in a team, his position is well camouflaged and he also knows how to infiltrate, change his positions and to exfiltrate after his job is done. He is taking aimed shots at you with a caliber .50 weapon. He has a free field of fire in front of him which makes it difficult for you to approach his position.

There are two basic elements when "hunting" snipers: Detect and destroy.

Sometimes this is not enough and you might want to go after the sniper with a group of your own infantry. To do this you use basic infantry tactics and common sense. There is no "special tactic" for hunting snipers.
If the sniper has a free field of fire in front of him you can use fog or smoke grenades to disturb his vision. Especially in urban environments your success will depend on the intelligence that you possess. If you are aware of the sniper's exfiltration route you might be able to cut him off. You might also be successful if you are able to locate the sniper's alternative position(s) and either await him there or mine them with booby traps.

When dealing with enemy snipers you have to be prepared and aware of them before they start shooting at you. Protect yourself, your positions and your movements always bearing in mind the "sniper threat".
